Operational Inefficiencies in Small Businesses & Agencies (03.04.22) This session focuses on identifying operational inefficiencies in small businesses and agencies by using DMAIC (define, measure, analyze, improve & control). In addition, different lean & quality tools such as process maps, value stream maps, and spaghetti diagrams will be used to identify wastes and bottlenecks in the processes and solutions to these problems will be identified or proposed through mutual discussions. The session will be hands-on and therefore, attendees are recommended (not necessary) to think about their own processes such that their inefficiencies can be identified and improved. Introduction to QuickBooks Online (03.25.22) QuickBooks is an Intuit software available for small and mid-sized businesses to manage their transactions. In this 90-minute session we will go over the fundamentals of transaction cycles for a business, observe source documents in the software such as invoices, payments, journals, customer information and generate reports via their reports section. No prior knowledge of QuickBooks is necessary. Virtual Human/Environments (04.08.22) Virtual humans are computer simulations designed to make decisions that lead to performing specific actions. The topic of virtual humans is fast becoming a principal instrument in exploring many areas such as medicine and marketing. In this speech, the speaker focuses on virtual humans in the field of chess, called virtual chess players, which simulate real chess players. The outcomes can have significant implications and future research addresses how they are connected to fields of research that involve strategies.
