What is a reverse job fair? In a Reverse Job Fair, job seekers make trifold display boards that highlight their qualifications and abilities to potential employers. Employers circulate among the tables and introduce themselves to the job seekers whose skills and abilities meet their needs.
Who are the Job Seekers?
Students enrolled in GISD's 18+ services for young adults with disabilities. 18+ services provides vocational skills instruction through the work-based learning model. Students receive vocational skills and gain employability skills that are transferable among a variety of jobs.
What are the benefits?
For the student, employment means greater economic self-sufficiency, an opportunity to use their skills, and more active participation in community life.
For the employer, it provides for greater diversity at the work site and a more inclusive work environment. People with disabilities are reliable employees and have an overall higher job retention rate. Employers can also receive federal and tax incentives, such as tax credits!
