The four cornerstones for a Chamber of Excellence are Healthcare, Public Safety, Economic Development, and Education. Each luncheon features a high-level speaker from outside of Georgetown. This month's luncheon focuses on education.

Speaker: Lauren Cook - Charles Butt Foundation, Senior Strategist

About the Speaker: 
Lauren’s work is about bringing people together, asking questions, listening, and collaborating. She works across departments to provide a strategic lens for approaching projects and aligning them to our mission and goals. Lauren has worked on Charles Butt’s educational philanthropy since 2012, with a focus on public policy communications, storytelling, research, and strategy. Lauren believes our impact at the Charles Butt Foundation will be as strong as our authentic connections with Texas educators, students, families, and the community members we serve.

Prior to working with the Charles Butt Foundation and Raise Your Hand Texas, Lauren served as Director of Communications for a school finance advocacy organization and as a Legislative Aide in the Texas Senate. Lauren is a two-time graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s in Spanish. She has called Austin home for more than twenty years and is deeply connected to the community and neighborhood public school her two children attend. Her husband is a passionate public high school history teacher. Lauren loves hiking, golfing, sipping hot tea, and dreaming of the day she’ll have time to be a birder.
