Willson Lecture: “Wesleyan Vile-tality: Reclaiming the Heart of Methodist Identity”

The Willson Lecture is honored to welcome Dr. Ashley Boggan, The United Methodist Church General Secretary of the General Commission on Archives and History, as our speaker! History of the Willson Lectures The Willson Lectures were established at Southwestern University in 1947 by Dr. Mavis Terry Willson and her husband, the late Dr. J.M. Willson. These lectures stress the roles played by religion and social life in helping students shape their thinking and leadership capacities. About Our Speaker Dr. Ashley Boggan is the General Secretary of the General Commission on Archives and History. In this role, she ensures that The United Methodist Church understands its past in order to envision a more equitable future for all Methodists. Boggan earned her Ph.D. from Drew Theological School’s Graduate Division of Religion, specializing in Methodist/Wesleyan Studies and Women’s/Gender Studies. She also earned an M.A. from the University of Chicago Divinity School, specializing in American religious history.
